Rivkah @ Oliver Peel session #16
Paris Feb 13th 2010 6:00 PM

Back @ Oliver's place 2 weeks after attending Orouni's session.
This time it is for french artist Rivkah, as you can see on the pictures she's not playing Heavy Metal, another folk artist but no acoustic guitar this time. Just a small keyboard, some loops, 2 friends on backing vocals & violin and a soft high voice.
Not really the kind of music I'm usely listening to but she's got her own world that is worth exploring. Check her on myspace.
She's also designing stage clothes ( Gojira among many others... )
As usual @ Oliver's many folk freaks came for this private gig, only half of them are on the picture below as many left straight after the gig ( it's saturday night ).
Rivkah came with her possee so 'we' felt like foreigners in 'our' own land;-).

Nice boots, honey !

French Actress ( & Roman Polanski's wife) Emmanuelle Seigner has just released her second album and she's doing a showcase at the fnac store on this saturday afternoon to promote it.
Short 6 songs set with a guitar player a drummer, Her first album was rock this one is more pop and sung in French ( why ? the first one was in English).
Can't really say that she's a great singer, far from it, the music is OK but some of the lyrics ( she didn't wrote them ) are just really bad.
Nevertheless it was a cool 30 min set.
Small interview and signing session at the end.
Emmanuelle was nice and chatty with everyone.

Iggy & The Stooges' "Raw power" Deluxe edition boxset out in April

Iggy and the Stooges’ 1973 classic Raw Power will be reissued April 27th as a Deluxe Edition box set complete with three discs worth of music featuring 15 previously unreleased bonuses — never-before-heard tracks, demos and remixes. One of Rolling Stone’s 500 Greatest Albums of All Time, Raw Power was the first Stooges album to feature James Williamson on guitar in place of the late great Ron Asheton, who switched to bass. The LP spawned the punk anthems “Search and Destroy” and “Gimme Danger.” As Rolling Stone previously reported, the Stooges, who will be inducted into Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in March, will celebrate their third album by performing the whole LP in concert.

The first disc of the box set will contain the newly remastered Raw Power, featuring David Bowie’s original mix for the album that was previously out of print, while the second disc boasts the Georgia Peaches bootleg, comprised of an unreleased soundboard recording of a 1973 concert the Stooges performed in Atlanta, Georgia. Two more unreleased songs will grace the second disc: An Iggy Pop/James Williamson-penned outtake called “Doojiman” and a rehearsal performance of “Head On.” The third disc features four more outtakes — “I’m Hungry,” “I Got a Right,” “I’m Sick of You” and “Hey, Peter” — and alternate mixes of four tracks: “Shake Appeal,” “Death Trip” “Gimme Danger” and “Your Pretty Face is Going to Hell.”

The Raw Power: Deluxe Edition box set also includes a new hour-long making-of Raw Power documentary, a 48-page photo book and a replica of the 1973 Japanese “Raw Power” 7” single. The box set will only be available through the Iggy and the Stooges Website.

The HotRats @ l' Album de la semaine Canal+ Paris Feb 8th 2010

The HotRats @ L' Album de la Semaine, Canal+
Paris Feb 8th

Setlist

The HotRats featuring Gaz Coombes & Danny Goffey from Supergrass have just released an album " Turn ons" consisting of only covers.
They were promoting it tonight @ famous Canal+ tv show L' Album de la semaine.
Dressed as 'sailors' with black & white stripes t-shirts, Gaz on guitar & vocals and Danny on drums & vocals are having fun
Oh yeah first it's another another duet, lots of people are doing it now guitars & drums, nothing new but it gives an extra flavor.
In this case too bad they don't have a third musician as they're using tapes for the bass ( or the Piano).
Hey guys if you're doing a duet you have to keep it RAW, what's the point of additionnal sounds on tape ?!?
Anyway it's straight rock'n roll with covers from The Doors, Roxy Music, The Beat, Elvis Costello, early Pink Floyd, David Bowie , Beastie Boys ( hard to recognize this one : " fight for your right" ) & a couple of others I could not put a name on it.
9 songs set in front of less than 200 people.
Cool !!!
They're playing tomorrow @ Point Ephémere.

People in my Head @ Truskel Paris Feb 4th 2010

Lo-Phi Phil is organizing rock concerts @ Truskel. All musicians are what we call now in Paris babyrockers as they've barely 18 years old.
Tonight People in my Head is headlining, quite a surprise they're no posers like most of the other bands , no boots , No slim trousers and No shitty attitude.
They know how to play, a blues - garage influenced rock reminding me of the early Led Zep, Flaming Groovies & Fleshtones.
Check them on their Myspace , they have an EP out.

They will play @ Batofar on March 13th.

In other news:
The AEROSMITH SAGA IS ON, The Joe Perry Project will open for Bad Company in England in April 2010.
Joe Perry
Would 'Definitely' Consider Getting Female Singer To Front AEROSMITH.
Things are getting ugly:
An attorney representing Tyler sent a letter to AEROSMITH's manager, Howard Kaufman, telling Kaufman to "immediately cease and desist from engaging in acts and conduct to the harm and detriment of your own client, AEROSMITH, and our client who is one of its members," according to Billboard.com. The move was seen as Tyler's way of issuing a warning to the group and its management should they go forward with plans to enlist a new lead singer while Tyler completes a stint in rehab and possibly pursues his own solo project.

Tyler's lawyer, Skip Miller, told Billboard.com that he's called a meeting of what he described as AEROSMITH's "shareholders" for February 9 to discuss recording a new album and touring Europe and South America later this year.

Miller's letter to Kaufman states, "We reserve all of our legal rights and remedies in this matter, including, without limitation, pursuing legal action for damages and other appropriate relief."

Despite this, Miller said, "Steven Tyler does not want lawsuits. We do not want to go in that direction. The direction we want is AEROSMITH, with Steven Tyler, touring in Europe, touring Latin America, releasing a new album . . . It's just amazing to me current management would be taking any other position."

Joe Perry also confirmed that Steven Tyler auditioned for "Led Zep" a few months ago. Jimmy Page said that the audition was " Shambolic" that Tyler wasn't familiar with the catalogue and thought he would work on new material.

Holly Miranda @ L' Album de la Semaine Paris Feb 2nd 2010

Holly Miranda @ L' Album de la Semaine, Canal+
Paris Feb 2nd 2010

setlist

Holly Miranda is going solo, she's usually playing with The jealous Girl Friends.
Miranda's debut album The Magician's Private Library, is due out February 23.
Many people are talking about her in very good terms.
Music between Cat Power & Feist, she's young and good looking but the music is in fact not that great, hard to single out a very good song.
Could have been better.

Fool's Gold @ C'est Lenoir Black Session #310 Paris Feb 1st 2010

Fool's Gold @ C'est Lenoir, Black Session # 310
Paris, Maison de la Radio Feb 1st 2010
Straight after Canal+, we rushed to the Maison de la radio for this Black session.
I didn't know what to expect at all, I was invited and when the DJ introduced them as playing Western African Music with a Israeli singing in Hebrew, my first thought was that it's gonna be boring.
And I was ... right .
The first two songs were OK but after the 3rd I started getting bored to death.
I hate that shit. So boring I'm a rocker for fuck's sake ;-)

The Black Box Revelation @
L' Album de la semaine, Canal+ Paris feb 1st 2010

Another duet with just a drummer & a guitar player-singer, this time they're coming from Belgium.
The music is minimalist à la White stripes or Black keys.
Lots of guitars , cool melodies, that's the Rock'n roll I dig.
They've done 7 songs tonight, for this Canal+ TV show, plus 2 they've already done.
Very nice set
Check this official video, they have a new album out:
